PSILPH Purpose

PSILPH is the federation of acid soil plant and soil science societies in the world. This website provides general information on the PSILPH. This society advances our scientific understanding of and promotes researches on acid soils and improved crop production on acid soils that comprise up to 40% of the world’s arable lands. The PSILPH contributes to the sustainable development in acid soil regions of the world through the integration and harmonization of agricultural production and sustainability, and environmental protection.

ACIDIC SOIL DISTRIBUTION
Acidic soils cover about 30% of total land area and more than 50% of the potentially arable lands in the world. A large portion of the world's acid soils are distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, especially in developing countries. Acidic soils decrease the production of food crops and threat the development of sustainable agriculture. The understanding of plant-soil interactions in acid soils is important for improved food production in many parts of the world.
